Also known as monkey musk, Mimulus luteus is an attractive, deciduous, herbaceous perennial, with a spreading, self-sowing habit. The small, ovate leaves are mid-green. Two-lipped, bright yellow flowers with red or purple spots on the petals are borne in late spring and early summer. This little plant is ideal for a difficult, wet site in partial shade, or a bog garden. Cut back growth at the end of the season. Watch out for slugs on emerging plants.

Soil: Any reliably moist but well-drained, or poorly drained soil
Position: Full sun or partial shade
Season of interest: Spring to autumn, May and June in particular
Hardiness: Hardy to -5 to -10ºC
Size: 20” (50cm) Spread: 20” (50cm) in 2-5 years

Aquatic plants come in a variety of pot and compost variations that have different benefits for planting and growing.

Pot can be removed and plant can be planted directly into soil or margins above or below the water line. Pot and plant can also be placed directly into water to be container grown, but will still need repotting in time.

Pot | (Regular Compost)
Pot must be removed and plant should be planted directly into soil or margins above the water line. Cannot be planted directly into soil below the water line.
